    Prepares those interested in becoming PA Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) ??? certified wastewater treatment plant operators with information needed to sit for the relevant PA DEP certification exams, upon completion of this course. This training covers basic treatment science and calculations, industry safety and chemistry; wastewater collection systems; and wastewater laboratory and plant maintenance operations. For those who pass the certification exams, PA DEP credits students with experience time to fast- track towards becoming a PA DEP licensed operator.

    Students are taught about wastewater collection systems in terms of design, construction, operation and maintenance. An overview of the different types of pumping stations, their components and the regulatory requirements are covered. Additionally an overview of pumps and hydraulics as well as flow meters and how they pertain to wastewater treatment and collection systems is also reviewed. This course is ideal for current and former licensed PA Wastewater Operators and those pursuing their wastewater treatment operator's license or those taking the Class E, Subclass 4 certification exam. This course provides Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (PA DEP) Continuing Education (CE) credit units for operators holding a current license.

    Entry level Industrial Manufacturing Technicians operate industrial production related equipment, work with manufacturing related tools, and perform work processes related to a variety of manufacturing settings. Apprentices will learn to set up, operate, monitor, and control production equipment. They will also help improve manufacturing processes and schedules to meet customer requirements. In order to obtain well-rounded training and thereby qualify as a skilled worker in the occupation, the apprentice shall have experience and training in the following areas and shall demonstrate competency, as specified herein. This instruction and experience shall include the following operations but not necessarily in the sequence given. Time spent on specific operations need not be continuous. Industry competency models outline skill sets and competencies that are essential to educate and train a globally competitive workforce. Entry-level critical work functions include: 1. Understand the various manufacturing types, processes, and products. 2. Understand the manufacturing business as a system that integrates multiple disciplines, processes, and stake- holders. 3. Manage raw materials/consumables. 4. Operate and control production equipment. This course is a blended learning program that includes classroom discussions, on-line learning modules and on-the-job-training assignments for a total learning experience of 3000 hours, generally scheduled over an 18 month period.

Kaizen involves people at all levels of the organization to participate. This course provides individuals with an awareness of the philosophy and the kaizen approach and tools. Effectively applying kaizen philosophy and tools can significantly improve value added productivity and reduce waste and associated cost.

    This interactive class is designed to empower those who enroll in making manufacturing a viable, competitive force. Students will learn how to reduce lead time, improve quality and understand the various forms of waste in a production system. Additionally, students will discover the secrets to standardizing by learning the five "S's" or what is known as the 5S system. The program is delivered by tackling actual real-life challenges in smaller workgroups to mirror their work team so that students can learn first-hand the nature of group dynamics and facilitating change.

    Yellow Belt is the first stage of the Lean Six Sigma learning process. In this program students learn the very basics of the Six Sigma Methodology so that they can act as support staff members to Green, Black, and Master Black Belts or begin their own journey towards a leaner more efficient manufacturing system. Students will become vital team members of an organization's production process. As a Yellow Belt, employees will have the ability to review, analyze and suggest improvements for the Six Sigma methodology.
