    This course wil introduce the students to the knowledge and skills necessary to safely and effectively perform complex rescue operations in non intersecting trenches. Topics include scene size up, hazard recognition and control, incident management, sheeting/shoring techniques and patient extrication and removal.     This course will provide awareness level information and skills as it pertains to vehicle rescue incidents. Topics will include general vehicle rescue functions and operations incident management of the vehicle rescue scene, vehicle anatomy, design and construction, recognition and control of hazards relative to a vehicle accident and rescue incident. Tools and equipment usage at an accident and rescue incident will also be covered. Prerequisites: Hazardous Materials Awareness or higher level of Hazardous Materials Training or certification within one year of the start of class Minimum age of student on the first day of class: 14

    This 20 hour course will provide operations level information and a skills as it pertains to vehicle rescue incidents. Topics include incident management , tools and equipment, vehicle anatomy/design, hazard control, patient access, care, packaging, disentanglement, extrication and termination. Upon completion of this course the student will be eligible to complete the PA Joint Rescue Program Basic Vehicle Rescue Technician Examination. Minimum age of students on first day of class: 18.

    This course is designed to provide students with the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform technical search functions for a US&R team during a disaster or a planned event. The course provides all necessary knowledge, skills and abilities for technical search personnel to develop strategy and tactics to implement search during recon, and operations at structural collapse operations. It provides necessary instruction on use, care, maintenance and tactical applications of all search tools carried in the cache and provides information on how technical search integrates into the overall operation.

    This course is designed for those who may be beginning the operation of fire department pumps and those who wish to expand their knowledge of fire service pumps and pumping operations. Topics include: principles of pumping, mechanical principles of pumping, function and operation of the fire pump and its accessories theory of drafting, operator maintenance of the pump, hydrant operations, basic water systems, and basic principles of discharge. Practical evolutions of pump operations will be utilized. Students must have protective clothing, and their departmental apparatus. SCBA is not required.

This class will focus on the advanced skills for fire service pump operation for those firefighters wishing to perfect their skill as a fire apparatus engineer or qualified pump operator.     This course is designed to introduce new firefighters to advanced fire ground operations including building construction, fire safety surveys, lighting, generator usage, technical rescue, fire protection systems, hose testing, combustible gas and liquid firefighting, foam operations, fire ground communications, and advanced origin, cause, and arson determination skills.

    Failure of the building or building components under fire conditions is a leading cause of firefighting death and injury. The ability to recognize or locate relevant information about a building before a fire, and to "read" a building during the progress of a fire, are essential survival skills. This course prepares the student to accomplish these skills in buildings of wood frame or ordinary construction.

    This course will enable the student to safely attack and extinguish an interior fire in a structure as a member of a single hose team. Also, it will provide the student with a review and application of techniques used in safe fire fighting practices in an actual fire environment.
