Students are prepared to take the CPC certification exam for professional coder offered through the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC). Beginning with the frequently used suffixes, the course will progress to include commonly used terms from each of the major body systems Frequently used medical abbreviations will also be provided. At the end of this course the student will be able to correctly spell, define, pronounce and utilize the commonly used medical terms in the workplace.

The curriculum focuses on the nursing process, current nursing practices, trends, ethical/legal issues, pharmacology and clinical management of patients. Attention is given to a variety of aspects including assessment skills, care plans, infection control, , technological advancements, quality assurance and drug administration. Clinical experience is conducted in an acute care medical-surgical facility to provide optimum learning opportunities. Through classroom lectures and hand-on-labs, students have the opportunity to refresh their skills, build confidence and gain insight into new techniques and technology.

    Provides new administrators with full training and also offers individual courses to meet the 24 annual continuing education units (CEUs) required for existing administrators. This course has been approved by the PA Department of Public Welfare (DPW) to meet the requirements set forth in regulations. This course is designed to strengthen health and safety requirements and more adequately address all of the issues surrounding resident care. ****CLASS TIMES ARE TUES & THURS 5:30-9:30pm (FOUR CLASSES BEGIN AT 5pm) SAT 8AM-4:30PM; MONDAY CLASS WILL BE USED AS MAKE UP CLASS IF NEEDED.

    This course provides a registry review and refresher for students interested in pursing the CCT exam as offered through CCI. An overview will be provided on the outline of the CCI exam and the application process. A review of anatomy and physiology, pharmacology, rhythm strip analysis EKG interpretation and 12-Lead EKG interpretation will be covered. This course if for those who have completed the Cardiology Technician Certificate Program or currently working in the field.
