    Explores and applies the foundations and methods of coaching. Major concepts include developing a coaching philosophy, budget concepts and applications, team management, motivation of athletes, problems in coaching, conditioning principles and applications, ethical and legal issues. Students will be engaged in practical applications, simulations and field experiences aligned with course concepts.

    Introduces theories and principles concerning motor control and learning, emphasizing neurophysiological and neuromechanical factors related to motor control and behavior in skill acquisition. Emphasis is placed on the application of knowledge in movement neuroscience such as the results of research on neuromotor functioning and neural control of voluntary movement, the role of the central nervous system, and the character of peripheral neuromuscular and sensory systems in planning, initiating, executing, and monitoring voluntary movements.

    A pedagogical application and analysis of classroom teaching techniques in Health Education. Students will gain experience in constructing units of instruction, and in using a variety of teaching aids/strategies to enhance the teaching/learning process. This course is required for Health and Physical Education certification and is designed to meet SHAPE America Health Education Teacher Accreditation standards.

    Designed to provide the concepts and applications necessary for Physical Education teachers to the unique learning needs of students with disabilities in PK-12 settings. The course provides content and applications for preservice teachers to plan and implement learning experiences with developmentally appropriate adaptations and accommodations associated with best practices, including decisions and strategies for inclusion and placement in the least restrictive environment for PK-12 students. The course includes a clinical teaching experience within an authentic one-hour laboratory setting. This course is designed to meet for state and national physical education standards for accreditation.

    Designed to equip students with knowledge of assessment and evaluation techniques, including basic statistical concepts used in health and physical education. Emphasis will be placed on how to measure performance and using performance-based data to improve instruction and learning in the PreK-12 Health and Physical Education setting. The course is designed to meet the state and national health and physical education standards.

    Provides students a culminating experience with on-the-job experience in a variety of physical education-related, professional on-site operations. Students will learn from professionals in the field and be exposed to programs, procedures, and settings. Supervision is provided by both university faculty and the cooperating agency. Experiences may take place in public and private agencies, schools, and athletic settings.

    Provides the capstone experience for pre-service teachers through two student teaching experiences at two levels {appropriate to certification areas and grade level ranges). Supervised practice in classrooms with certified teachers and regular practicum sessions introduce the student to the range and scope of a professional educator's responsibilities.
