    Provides senior year students with leadership experiences emphasizing on development of a practitioner who can assume an independent role in providing anesthesia care. Student clinical assignments are focused on surgical specialty services to focus on those aspects of anesthesia nursing care to that specialty. Clinical conferences will focus on specialty case reviews, mortality and morbidity reviews, and case presentations. A journal club will be a component part of clinical conference related to surgical specialty topics.

    Provides students with leadership experiences with emphasis on the development of a practitioner who can assume an independent role in providing anesthesia care to the critically ill patient. Focus is on the scholarly development of the student in regard to evidence-based practice. An evidence-based practice issue specific to the critically ill patient will be explored and will result in a scholarly paper and interprofessional presentation. Corequisite:    NURS 609

    Emphasizes the development of an independent practitioner who can assume a leadership role as a member of the anesthesiology community. Performance improvement measures are addressed in this last practicum course. To enhance the scholarly development of the student, additional time is spent on an area of interest with the expectation that meaningful clinical research will be conducted. An evidence-based practice issue will be explored and will culminate in a paper submitted for publication and a professional presentation. An additional focus of this course is on preparation for the National Certification examination. Corequisite:    NURS 610

    Explores foundational knowledge of contemporary nutrition recommendations. The course emphasizes the relationship between nutrition and health status across the lifespan. Students examine personal eating habits and the societal and cultural influences on those habits. The course is appropriate for the general student population. This course does not fulfill requirements for the Nursing or Nutrition programs.

    Introduces the student to the science of nutrition, factors related to the nutrient needs of the body, and the foods that meet these needs. It also examines how good nutrition plays a role in the health of the individual. Healthy and diseased states related to nutrition will be discussed in this course. This course supports standards of the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics and is taught by a Registered Dietitian-Nutritionist (RDN).

    Examines the physical and chemical properties of food in relation to selection, preparation, consumption, and storage. Integrates nutrition concepts into the study of food science.
