Psychological and organizational strategies will be used in the writing of business reports and other documents. Students will learn more about the communication process in a business setting. Students will also participate in employability activities including writing a resume and cover letter.

Students will focus on developing engaging and active lesson plans that are student-centered and improve student learning. Students will design assessments and learning activities that involve collaborative learning techniques as well as assessment measurement tools.     Prepares students for the expectations and professional experiences of the teaching and learning atmosphere of the professional teacher in the classroom. Students will be provided opportunities to undertake the many responsibilities assigned to the classroom teacher as well as assuming some of the teaching role competencies to confirm their decision to enter the teaching profession. Students will explore all four domains of the Danielson framework. Corequisite:    BSED 502

    Provides opportunities for students to observe the operation of the secondary school environment and specific diverse classes as well as 16-weeks of participatory teaching experiences. This course is correlated with classroom studies under full-time supervision of a cooperating teacher and university supervisor. Corequisite:    BSED 506

    Introduces students to research in business fields, with a focus on business education, including Accounting, Business Law, Career Development, Communication, Economics, Personal Finance, Entrepreneurship, Information Technology, International Business, Management and Marketing, or any other competencies. Students will research a particular field and develop a research proposal and research report that includes a purpose, literature review, delimitations, ethical considerations, method, limitations, key findings, discussion, conclusion, reference list and appendices as needed.

    Prepares students to teach through the Instructional Internship guidelines prescribed by the Pennsylvania Department of Education for the Internship track. Coursework presents competencies in the key areas of teaching. Topics presented include planning and preparation, appropriate learning environment, instruction techniques, and professional responsibilities.

    Continues student professional development for teaching and continuing to professionally-develop students for teaching in business education classroom following guidelines prescribed by the Pennsylvania Department of Education for the Internship track. Coursework focuses on advanced competencies in the key areas of teaching and assessment. Topics presented include unit planning, classroom maintenance, implementing higher-ordering thinking skills, and continued professional development as a business teacher.

    Examines the issues and practices involved with teaching Business Education at the K-12 level, two-year postsecondary, community or technical college. Some of the topics to be discussed and examined include the need for and importance of Business Education in K-12, two-year postsecondary, and community college or technical schools; being a school leader as a teacher; educational technology; and continued professional development of a business teacher.
